Wong Mon Hong
Wong Mon Hong was born in Van Winkle in 1901. From 1917 until 1943 he was active in mining, and the operation of two grocery stores and a cafe. He worked for two years in Vancouver, then returned to the Cariboo to continue mining. He died in 1985. The Lee Chong Co. was established in 1926 when Hong (35%), & Lee Chong (65%), took over the Lun Wo Co., which had been established in 1914.
