A preliminary work program for the preparation of the new Official
Community Plan is being prepared. It is anticipated that all background work,
including preliminary public consultation, will be completed during 1991.

The cost of the Official Commmity Plan works for 1991 should amount to
about $100,000.00, $40,000.00 of which are expected to come from the 1991 |
Planning Grant Program, $40,000.00 from the operating budget of the Planning
Department and $20,000.00 has been included in the 1991 budget request as a
special item, subject to Council approval.

DISCUSSION:

The Official Community Flan, despite a large number of interim
amendments implemented over the last two years, has reached obsolescence in
many areas of the City, due to the fast growth of the last four or five years.

The 1991 Provincial Planning Grant Program could provide funds to permit
completion of the first phase of the revisions to the Plan during the course

of 1991.

The Planning Department, therefore requests that Council authorize the
corresponding application for $40,000.00 from the "1991 Planning Grant

Program".
