Request the federal government to extend the coverage of the federal Access to Information Act and the federal Privacy Act to include the RCMP in British Columbia as soon as practicable. Enter negotiations with the federal government to have the RCMP “act as if" Bili 50 applied to them. Do not cover private care facilities, except to the extent that their records are in the custody or under the control of other public bodies which are covered by the legislation (e.g., Ministry of Health). Provide for coverage of additional local public bodies by regulation to the Act. Coverage Beyond the Core 6. Invite further submissions on the best way to differentiate public from private sector bodies for those institutions not included in the recommended core coverage.
