1986 02 14 CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM PARKS A RECREATION COMMITTEE A meeting of the Parks A Recreation Committee was held in Council Chambers on wednesday, February 5th, 1986, at 3:45 the p.m. In attendance were Alderman George Laking and Alderman Mike Far nworth, Also in attendance were K. This year' Participaction is being run in a different manner than in previous The municipality can . challenge any other municipality regardless of population. In the past, tbe challenge has been with municipalitites in certain population categories. As you will recall, the city had Cornerbrook as their challenge last year. Ile wishes the city to maintain the sign and the boulevard area around it. The Committee looked at the sign and also discussed the kind of ground cover that should be utili.zed. The Committee agreed that as Mr. it was the entrance to a sub-division, it would look nice, and is appropriate. Recommendation: That the City of Port Coquitlam Parks A Recreation Department would be responsible 4'r 4'ull maintenance of the entrance sign and the boulevard area around the sign. CARRIED Item No Nature Reserve The Public Work" Committee was in attendance for Collard and Mr. Anderson were in attendance to discuss the problem behind their houses where they had water coming from Reeve Street Park. Mr. Collard and Mr. Anderson indicated that they were getting a tremendous amount of water from there. The Parks Recreati.on Department had gone into the nature reserve to fix a potentially dangerous and unsafe area; however, their properties are extremely wet and they wanted the Committee to address the problem of run-off from the nature reserve. The Public Works Committee will investigate the problem and possible solutions with costing. Mr. Collard A Mr. Anderson will be kept, informed as to the progress. this item. Mr . Janna met with Ken Webber and set up a plan for the time line for the study. Zt is hoped to have a questionnaire out to of the programs, public swimming and participants to residents in the surrounding areas by February 7th, These will be returned by February 28th. A 1986. information meeting will be held March 18th, public at 7r30 p.m. in Hyde Creek, At this public 1986 information meeting various concepts will be presented for public input.
