The meet starts on Friday at 4 p.m. for warm-up with the Provin- cial B Aged 12 and Over in an evening session. After the session, coaches, judges and chaperons will join the Falcons Parents Asso- ciation for an informal get- together at the Vanalman gym. Competition continues with the Provincial B Aged 11 and Under in Saturday’s morning session; Provincial A Aged 11 and Under in the afternoon session: and Pro- vincial A Aged 12 and Over and National Novice, both in the even- ing session. On Sunday, the morning session sees gymnasts compete in the Divisional Aged 12 and Over category and the meet concludes with the afternoon session decid- ing the Divisional Aged 11 and Under. TheReview Wednesday, May 20, 1992 A23 High scores for mobile Peninsula gymnasts Peninsula gymnasts were at a number of meets in early May with competitions in Campbell River, Kamloops-and Vancouver. Enn Grant and Hilary Stewart travelled up-Island to participate in the Campbell River event for Mites — children up to eight- years-old. Grant scored an 8.4 to take top honors on the balance beam and a second-place in the floor exercises with an 8.2. Stewart placed fifth on the beam with her 7.35 and ninth on the floor with a 7.1. Both were competing for the Falcon Artistic Gymnastics School, in Saanich. In the interior, Kamloops hosted its Seventh Annual Girls Invita- tional meet, which five gymnasts from the Peninsula competing in two age divisions. Argo girls (10 to 11-year-olds) Nikki Burrows, Erinne Willock and Kathy Garduno competed in four core events — uneven bars, balance beam, floor exercises and vault — and all had respectable showings. Burrows was the top Peninsula performer earning seventh all- round after placing in the top 10 in three of the four routines. She had top marks on the bars with an 8.9, third on the vault with an 8.75, eighth in floor with an 8.6 and 18th on the beam with a 7.4. Willock finished 18th and Gar- duno 19th out of the 25 girls from across the province at the meet. Katy Jones and Sara Mitchell finished 11th and 14th respec- tively i in the Tyro age group, which is for 12 and 13-year-olds. In the two categories, only four girls had scores of 9.0 or better, with the top scorer of the two-day event acheiving a 9.1 mark. finish. The Vancouver Island squad was comprised of three gymnasts. Egan placed 13th overall out of 45 competitors.
