TheReview Wednesday, May 6, 1992 — A10 NEW FRIENDSHIPS were created between a group of French Immersion students from Mt. Newton Midale School and students from Charlesbourg, Quebec. The grade seven students participated in a two-way exchange, with the Peninsula youngsters going 10 Quebec in February and the Quebec sfudenis visiting The Peninsula last week. New friendships promote Canadian unity Celebrating their shared citizen- ship in Canada last week were 55 Grade 7 students, half from French Immersion classes at Mt. Newton Middle School and half from Charlesbourg, near Quebec City. The Quebec students visited the Mt. Newton students on the second half of an exchange pro- gram. Field trips undertaken by the Students included trips to Duncan and to the Royal B.C Museum. On the first half of the exchange, the Mt. Newton students stayed with their counterparts in Quebec, joining in the annual Winter Car- nival and practicing their French language skills. “Having found friends and shared experiences together could be a step in the right direction for a unified Canada,” said Mandy Kray, one of the parents involved The Review provides this community calendar free of charge to NON- PROFIT organizations only.
