Community Editor: Valorie Lennox 656-1151 _ TheReview Wednesday; April 8, 1992 — AQ Student literary journal is the first in Canada A publication promoting poetry and fiction by students, The Clare- mont Review, was officially launched March 26. “We are a literary review for high school writing students in - North America. We will take the best, regardless of where they come from,” says Claremont Secondary teacher Bill Stenson, who co-edited the journal with fellow Claremont teacher Terence Young. Stenson notes the Claremont Review, which he hopes will be published twice a year, is the only journal of its kind in Canada. The teachers started the project 18 months ago. Some of the $3,000 required to publish the 1,000 copies of first journal came from corporate and individual sponsors, Stenson said. Copies of the journal are availa- ble from the school, in Tanners Books in Sidney and in Victoria bookstores starting this week.
