THE FRASER UNION will be
striking at Deep Cove Folk
Friday with a collection of
their popular number.

Fraser Union to
strike on Friday

Folk with Canadian content will
be presented this Friday when the
popular quartet, Fraser Union,
drops by Deep Cove Folk for an
evening of song.

Now celebrating the release of
their second album, Dan Kenning,
Henk Piket, Roger Holdstock and
Barry Truter have been performing
together since 1981.

Many of their songs are inspired
by workers on the west coast,
including the fishing which
prompted Bank Trollers or log
salvaging, which produced Snap
the Line Tight.

Canada’s past is reflected in The
Last Battle, about the Metis upris-
ing and the last stand of Louis
Riel, and in The Goodnight Lov-
ing Trail, about the invaluable
cook on a cattle drive.

Fraser Union’s songs are fre-
quently heard across the country
on Max Ferguson’s Saturday
moming, CBC radio show.

The show starts at 8 p.m. in St.
John’s United Church, 10990 West
Saanich Road, North Saanich.
Admission 1s $3.50 and includes
refreshments at the intermission.
