TheReview Wednesday, February 12,1992 — A15 Stingers’ win brightens bleak week The Stelly’s Stinger boys’ team managed a home-court 84-63 win in AA league action last Tuesday. Matt Strome was hot, scoring 27 points. Dave Caleb added 12. On Thursday, the Stingers were downed 71-56 by Glenlyon- Norfolk. Joe Box had 14 points. The Stinger girls’ team drained more buckets than usual Thursday, but wound up on the short end of a 62-51 score against Esquimalt. As she has been all year, Erin Barber was strong for Stelly’s, netting 17 points. The Parkland Panthers girls’ lost 92-64 to Lambrick Park in AA action Wednesday. Joleen Hook scored a game-high 27 points. The AAA Panther boys fell behind early and couldn’t catch up to Mt. Doug Tuesday at Parkland. Jeremy Morrow nailed 35 points in an 86-74 loss. He also scored 33 Thursday in a 76-61 defeat to Spectrum. Most teams were on the tourney circuit last weekend. The Panther girls lost their opening two matches at the Victor- ia City Police Tournament before downing Spectrum 51-40, At the Vic High Boys Tourney, Parkland and Stelly’s lost their opening games. The Peninsula rivals clashed in a- consolation game, which Parkland won 69-54.
