Community _ Native culture, including story telling, song, dance, drumming and carving, will be shared this Sunday in A Celebration of Saanich Cul- ture, the third in a series of discus- sion groups sponsored by Shady Creek-Brentwood Bay United Churches. Guests involved in the program include storyteller Chief Norm Underwood, the Thunderbird Dan- cers and Singers and carver Charles Elliot, who specializes in Coast Salish art. The free discussion group meets from 2 to 4 p.m. at Shady Creek United Church, 7180 East Saanich Road, Central Saanich. Participants will have a chance to talk to the artists and perfor- mers. The series 1s open to anyone interested in learning more about the Saanich tribe or interested in sharing their knowledge with others. Sunday’s program is the third of the Amelia Douglas Discussion series on the history, culture and concerns of the Saanich tribe. Themes in the series include the Saanich land claims, education, justice, spirituality, arts and the environment.
