Pas Gravity and Light on display tonight A free reading of work by three island poets will be held at the Sidney-North Saanich branch of the Vancouver Island Regional Library tonight starting at 7:30 p.m. Featured are Margaret Black- wood, Anne Kelly and Kerry Sla- vens, reading from their new col- lection, Gravity and Light. Born in Victoria, Blackwood is a visual artist, poet and fiction writer, With Robin Skelton, she co- authored Earth, Air, Fire, Water, a book tracing the pagan elements in poetry of the British Isles. She also wrote The Monstrous Regiment, a collection of aphor- isms about women which was published in 1990. A chapbook of her poetry, Unfinished World, has also been published and her work has appeared in Canadian literary magazines. She has a B-RA. from the Univ- ersity of Victoria. Anne Kelly has lived on the west. coast since 1967, writes poetry and fiction and has worked as an actress and visual artist. Her work has been printed in a number of Canadian periodicals. She received the Victoria Medal for achievement in fine arts while working for her B.A. in creative writing from the University of <@r Victoria. Poet and fiction writer Kerry Slavens also has a B.A. in creative writing from the University of Victoria. Now working on a novel and a collection of poems, she is also active in the environmental move- ment and does freelance writing. She has won several journalism awards and her work has appeared in Canadian literary magazines. The reading is sponsored by the library, by Susan Musgrave and by Robin Skelton. Program fo review chelation therapy A program on chelation therapy will be presented by the EDTA | a@eChelation Information Association Thursday starting at 1:30 p.m. in the Pro Pat Legion Hall, 411 Gorge Road East, Victoria. John Tisdalle of Central Saanich will be the moderator for the program, which will feature asso- ciation president Croft Woodruff and Dr. D. Horton as speakers plus a video by Dr. Julian Whitaker of California. Proponents suggest the therapy may help those affected by cold hands or feet, painful legs, high blood pressure, heart attacks, angina pains, open heart surgery and circulation problems. The presentation is free.
