Jan. 9 GREEN THUMBS The January meeting of the Sidney and Saanich Peninsula Garden Club will be held at 7:30 pm at Sidney Silver Threads Hall on Resthaven Drive in Sidney. Guest speakers this month are Bob Clarke and Archie Miller, who will present a new slide show to music on the Victoria horticultural society 1991 garden visits. New members and visitors are welcome. Jan. 10 DEEP COVE FOLK Barley Bree, a lively Victoria based trio of accordion, fiddle and piano, will present the music and anecdotes from Scotland at the next meeting of Deep Cove Folk in St John’s United Church, 10990 West Saanich Road, starting at 8 pm. Jan. 11 BOTTLE DRIVE - ONE A bottle and old telephone book drive will be held from 9 am until noon in Sidney. Bottles and old telephone books will be collected door-to-door or may be dropped off at the Guide and Scout Hall, 3rd and Bevan in Sidney, between 9 am and noon. BOTTLE DRIVE - TWO Second Tsartlip Boy Scouts hold a bottle drive in Brentwood Bay starting at 9:30 am. Refundable bottles and cans will be picked , up in the Brentwood area. Drop-offs to the Brentwood Bay Scout Hall, Clarke and West Saanich Road, will be gratefully accepted. RECYCLE TREES Recyle old Christmas trees in support of St. Andrew’s Youth between 10 am and 2 pm at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, 9686 3rd Street, Sidney. Drop off trees for mulching, wood chips will be sold at $1 per bag. A concession offering coffee and doughnuts will also be available. Info, 656-5322.
