TheReview Wednesday, November 27, 1991 — A10 Se Spr AP SS I ER EN Improved transit service with anticipated closure of E. Saanich Improved B.C. Transit service to Central Saanich is on the way. But the new route that buses will take is yet to be determined. At Central Saanich council’s committee meeting Nov. 12, B-C Transit senior planner Steve Har- vey suggested that the Number 70 be re-routed to Keating Crossroad, turning north on Central Saanich Road, to link with East Saanich Road for the ride into Saanichton (Plan One) — with 15-minute peak service and 30-minute regu- lar service effective Dec. 9. Currently, the bus leaves the Pat Bay Highway northbound at East Saanich Road. But, transit plan- ners anticipate East Saanich access and egress to and from the highway to be cut off and designed two alternate plans — with Plan Two calling for the bus to tum onto Island View Road westbound to East Saanich northbound. Harvey had suggested that the Number 70 bus will be the pre- ferred service from Central Saa- nich south to Victoria. In committee, council members agreed to transit’s Plan One con- tingent on the closure of East Saanich, although Ald. Arlene Box voiced concern about the bus passing Keating Elementary School. Nov. 18 in council, Mayor Ted Jones suggested the Number 70 leave the highway at Tanner Road, “providing that area with 15- minute service.” The Number 75 bus would travel down Keating Crossroad on its way to Brentwood instead of taking Tanner and Cen- tral Saanich roads to Keating. Jones made the suggestion rec- ognizing that Transit says tuming the corner at Keating and Central Saanich will not be a problem. “This would reverse roles and- improve service,” Jones said. Council referred the matter back to committee. Your home has been listed for two weeks, and you've had only one newspaper ad. Your house is being shown fairly regularly, but in the back of your mind, you wonder if the agent is doing enough. Sellers often equate effective marketing with classified ads in the Sunday real estate section every weekend. In practice, however, these ads generate relatively few sales of the properties they feature. The most talented Realtors know their market well enough to know where buyers for your home are likely to come from. They will then look for the best ways to reach those people; with direct mail, telephone contact or specialized ads in neighborhood publications. They will also work to get their colleagues excited about your house, especially agents who tend to have many listings or sales in your neighborhood. Finally it’s important for you and your agent to communicate often so you'll know exactly what he or she is doing and what you might be doing to get your home sold.
