The Panthers are rebuilding, with many new players having moved up from the junior ranks. “The boys played a lot and the new players got to find out about the senior game,” said Milligan, whose Panthers dropped two games on the Lower Mainland on Friday and Saturday. The coach said the senior game is quicker than juniors are used to, but he is confident the Panthers will adjust after a few weeks of practise and playing. - The Panthers lost 45-28 Friday against Seaquam in their first out- ing of the season. Jeremy Morrow, Parkland’s 6’7” forward, scored nine to lead his team. Saturday the Panthers travelled to South Delta and lost 82-55, a game Milligan said was like the first in that it was closer than the score would indicate. “Tf we play those guys tomor- row we could win by that score.” Morrow scored 30 for Parkland. ““He’s going to be a strong player for us all year,” said Milligan. el $30 per person + GST el fel je Five of her players — Joleen Hook, Genea Grist, Jenny Milli- gan, Kim Painter and Shana Robinson — gained experience at the B.C: “There’s a good core there,” said Metcalfe. “We're not particularly big height-wise, but hopefully we will be aggressive on the boards and in advancing the ball up the court.” The Panthers opened the tourna- ment with a 39-31 win over Ladysmith. Hook led the team with 18 points, while Grist had 12. They then overwhelmed Che- mainus 70-29 in their second game. Grist scored 14, as did Becky Kraitberg. In the final, Hook netted 24 points while Gust added another 18. The Stinger girls dropped their opening game 53-27 to Claremont. This was followed by a 56-22 defeat to Cowichan. Erin Barber was top scorer with 11 in each game. She added 20 in the Sth- place final.
