“ee «Community A little brightness is brought into the lives of Rest Haven Lodge residents by the lodge’s Ladies’ Auxiliary. A little gift for each resident on his or her birthday and treats at Christmas and Easter are provided by the volunteers, along with spe- cial events like the Harvest Tea and Bazaar held at the lodge Thursday. The auxiliary has also provided a van to the intermediate care facility and contributes to the operation and maintenance of the van. The auxiliary has donated two microwave ovens to the lodge and also plans a $1,000 donations which will provide new cushions for chairs'in the lodge dining room. Auxiliary members also operate a gift and tuck shop within the lodge. The shop, a convenience:for residents and visitors, is open from 1:30 to 4 p.m: Sunday to Friday. All this work is done by a small group of only 18 to 20 members, - said president Eileen Uren. The group desperately needs more volunteers, she added. Mem- bership is only $3 a year and is open to any women in the area interested in volunteer work. Officers are elected in June and serve for one year. In addition to Uren, current executive members are vice-present Doreen Woldnik, secretary Dorothy Toller and trea- surer Harriet Cunliffe. The auxiliary was organized in 1982 to serve the newly- opened lodge. Anyone interested in volunteer- ing can call Uren at 656-4397 or Dale Monych, coordinator of activities and volunteers, at 656- 4 Editor: Valorie Lennox 656-1151 MEU adds brightness fo care home A CUP OF TEA is poured by Eileen.
