Is ICBC bankrupt?

How much of the $90 million
reported by the Insurance Corpora-
tion of B.C. as “surplus” for 1989
is really a reserve for unsettled
claims owing to dissatisfied cus-
tomers who are waiting for pay-
ments from ICBC?

I have reason to believe that
some of the $90 million “surplus”
came out of the pockets of dissat-
isfied ICBC customers including
me.

It is time for a new government
to open up this can of worms
which is long overdue for investi-

Island MLA and finance minister
Mel Couvelier saying Clark has a
bught political future and would
make a capable finance minister.

Clark responded: “I guess I
can’t say anything bad about Cou-
velier. It’s pretty clear we are on
the verge of a great victory in
British Columbia.”

Clark then slammed the Liberal
Party’s platform, compating it to
past Social Credit policy.

“Mel Couvelier was a member
of the Liberal Party, in fact he was
president of the Liberal Party. Bill
Vander Zalm was a member of the
Liberal Party,” Clark said.

He questioned who the Liberals
would support in a minonty gov-
ernment and urged McMurphy
campaign workers.
