Hobbits surprise selves with play The Sidney Hobbits ladies field hockey team is off to as fine a start to the season as can be expected. The Vancouver Island Ladies Field Hockey League team won its second game in two starts Saturday by a 2-1 score over the Blue Jays. The Second Division game was played at Lansdowne Park. The Blue Jays scored the first goal of the game on a breakaway. The shot eluded Hobbits’ netmin- der Evelyn Greene. However, Liz Lilly’s first goal of the game knotted the score before the half. In the second half, Greene got her revenge, stopping a Blue Jay player on another breakaway. Meanwhile, Lilly notched another marker, a goal that turned out to be the game winner. “We're playing pretty well,” said team spokesman Monica Dahl. The Hobbits opened their schedule last week with a 4-2 win over the Evergreens. “We’re somehow controlling the play,” said Dahl, sounding a bit surprised and noting this was not characteristic of Hobbit play in the past. * REFRESHMENTS (aT OTE, S ~ * PRIZES sss i TRAVEL PLEASE COME TO OUR ***** MEXICO NIGHT ***** THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 26 AT 7:30 PM. cdc (Beechwood Village) : * MEXICO SPECIALS 4 * MEXICAN RIVIERA CRUISE SPECIALS * “TOUCH OF CLASS” - MINI FASHION SHOW ** $2.00 PER PERSON * * BY OUR OFFICE AT 2393 BEACON AVENUE 656-5561 rected results are in from the Regatta held over the Sept. 14-15 weekend.
