The Minister of Forests, Claude Richmond, should tender his resignation and the Ministry of Forests should be abolished in it’s present form. In it’s place, a Ministry of Natural Resources where timber extraction is only one use of our forests, should be established as recommended by the Forest Resources Commission. Jim Pine Victoria shameful use of good green land Editor: I was out with my realtor the other day to look at some property. He took me down Wallace Drive and tumed onto Stellys Crossroad. We tumed onto a small country lane called Maber Road. From here we entered the ridge over- looking a marvelous field of fresh cut hay. This land is apparently the abandoned proposed Brentwood Lakes Golf Course. What a shame I thought. This land will now be sectioned off for sale and made into hobby farms if the soil will permit it. Or it will just sit and be left because the farmer cannot farm it anymore for profit. I come from the east. Every year I come out to purchase land. I have not found my dream home yet but this piece of land I feel should be allowed to become what it is struggling to become — a golf Course. What sort of people do you have on council in Central Saanich? Is there no imagination there? Our use of long forgotten rural land back east is to keep the land rural by using it as golf and country club. We all want to see the rolling “green grass, the duck ponds, and the public out there exercising and enjoying life. Is there still hope for this to happen before this land gets sold into what might tum out to be an eye sore on Wallace? Take some advise from an old man. Jim Carver Brampton, Ont.
