and brought fo B.C. by labor contractors to work on the Canadian Pacific Railroad. Once Municipal Law
the railway was completed hundreds of Chinese settled on Vancouver Island. By 1909
Sidney had a large Chinese population — mostly men who had been hired to work in the Se
