Paul’s features educator Baldwin Christina Baldwin, well known author, educator and psychologist from Minneapolis, is coming to Sidney to give a special seminar that will be open to the public. St. Paul’s United Church Hall will be the location of a three-hour journal writing workshop on Sun- day, Sept. 22 at 1 p.m. Baldwin is visiting Canada for a week as a guest lecturer at Holly- hock, a holiday and learning centre on Cortes Island. She will also spend some time in Sidney. St. Paul’s Adult Education Committee has invited her to con- duct an open workshop on the theme of her latest American best- seller: Life’s companion: Journal writing as a spiritual quest. The book has been hailed as a valuable non-denominational resource for people looking for a healthy way to nurture spiritual self-confidence, and bring about social change, St. Paul’s Church ~ publicist Eva Bames said. “Writing bridges the inner and outer worlds and connects the paths of action and reflection,” says Baldwin, who has found per- sonal journals to be powerful ther- apeutic tools. She believes that writing brings about a kind of sorting process which helps to illuminate and make sense of the world. The upcoming workshop is designed to help individuals make positive changes in their lives by offering a structured and enjoyable approach for developing one’s inner self. Baldwin explains that spiritual- ity will be presented in an inclu- _ Sive fashion. “People of all faiths Or no particular faith will feel comfortable.” There’s a Friend who can help you with every move you make ANE DAVIDSEN 652-5171 NRS Peninsula Properties TAG/HEUER - SPORTS WATCHES Facels jeweler 2403 BEACON AVENUE SIDNEY - 655-1515 The seminar is $12.
