July 12 DEEP COVE FOLK Deep Cove Folk Club host a Ceilidh celebration at 7:30 pm in the orchard of St. John’s United Church. There will be Scot- tish Country Dancers and Island Thyme Morris Dancers making guest appearances during the first half of the evening. Also featured are two storytellers and music by Pale, Bitter and Stout for a country dance in the second half of the evening. Lug-a-mug for refreshments, included in the second half of the evening. Info, 656-1855. July 15 GREEN THUMBS The July meeting of the Sidney and Saanich Peninsula’s garden club will be held at 7:30 pm in Sanscha Hall, Sidney. A special program will feature four speakers on preparing, picking and exhibiting, vege- tables, dahlias, roses and miscellaneous flowers for the annual August garden show. July 17 ABORIGINAL ISSUES A program on aboriginal issues will be presented in St. Stephen’s Church Hall, Saanichton, at 7:30 pm, sponsored by Project Sidney, a group affiliated with Project North B.C. A program for children five to 10 years offering a variety of musical experiences starts July 11; a theatre sports program using masks, mime, improvisation and is offered by the Municipality of Central Saanich recreation department. SPINNING SHOW A demonstration of spinning will be presented by the Deep Cove Weavers and Spinners at the Sidney Museum, 2538 Beacon Avenue, Sidney, every Tuesday from noon to 3 pm until the end of August.
