The school’s top honor, the Breckenridge Award, was pre- sented to Janice Hanan by former school principal Don McKinnon. Jeanna Lenaghan received the Viking Award, given to the runner- up for the Breckenridge Award. The Don Honeyman Athletic Award was won by Jeanette Van- denbulk. Runner-up was Craig Pelton. The Kiwanis Club Award was presented to Victoria Armstrong while Mike Chazottes collected the North Saanich Excellence Award. The North Saanich Citizenship Award went to Catherine Proteous, Briana Rayner and Mike Cha- zottes. Michelle Parish and Neetu Saini shared the John Elliott Service Award. Sidney Rofarians recognized The Sidney Rotary Club recog- nized 23 years of volunteer service by Jim Lang presenting him with a Paul Harris fellowship at the club’s annual installation night, June 26. The award, named after the founder of Rotary, recognizes major contributions to the service club. Lang joined Rotary in Prince George in 1968 and joined the Sidney Club in 1980. He served as president in 1988-89. Reg Teeney was chosen Rotarian of the Year in recognition of his work organizing the club’s bingo shifts and working to organize the club’s game and concession booths at the fall fair. Both activities raise money which is used by the Rotary Club for local and international service projects. - Elmer Borstad was installed as president for the 1991-92 year. President-elect 1s Lloyd Harrop and vice-president is Dennis Flew- for service elling. Secretary is lan Morley, trea- surer is Bruce Ledingham, Sgt.-at- Arms is Cliff Ruttan and directors are Ed LeClair, Chris Cowland, Reg Teeney and Jack Parry. JIM LANG Sidney Lions honor members Food bank worker Bill Brain and former Sidney mayor Norma Sealey were recognized by the Sidney Lions Club at the club’s recent installation night. Brain, who oversaw operation of the Lions-Review Food Bank for many years, was honored as Lion of the Year June 15 while Sealey was honored as a 25-year citizen of the area. In the installation ceremony, Brad McCluskie was installed as the 1991-92 president; Jim Wilson was named first vice-president; Art Rostek was named second vice-president and David Lovett was named third vice-president. Secretary is Ron Wittal, trea- surer is Nick Boulin, tail twister is Mike Massie and lion tamer is Don Crowhurst. Directors for the coming year are Bill Singer, Howard Rositer, Milne Rennie, Jim Williams and Gill Shoesmith. Celebrity Golf raises green for hospital Golfers will tee-off for the Saa- nich Peninsula Hospital and bid for about $60,000 in prizes July 27 in a Celebrity Golf Tournament at Glen Meadows Golf and Country Club. The tournament is open to 108 golfers, who will join 36 celebrit- ies on the course. Included in the giveaways is a 1991 Chrysler Le Baron converti- ble from Ensign Chrysler Ply- mouth Limited, a 15-foot travel trailer, a runabout boat, a luxury cruise and a round trip for two anywhere served by Air Canada.
