The Warriors dropped both games of a doubleheader Saturday to Nanaimo, and were defeated 4-2 by Saanich the day before. Nanaimo took the opener 8-2, and Jamie Mair had both Warrior goals. In game two, Mair had one and Mike Walden the other in an 11-2 loss. Walden and Jason Seman were the Warrior marksmen in the Saa- nich game, - The Warriors had plenty of shots on net, but couldn’t get enough of them by the Saanich goalie, said team spokesman Vicki Walden. — PEE WEES The Warriors Pee Wee A ‘squad trounced visiting Juan de Fuca 9-3 last Wednesday. The game was close in the first period, but Peninsula pulled away in the second and third. Blake Munro sniped a hat trick. Chris Olsen and Graeme Hem- bruff scored two apiece, while Colin Tulloch and Bryce McFad- den had one. The Pee Wees also played twice two weeks ago and emerged with only one point. They tied Saanich 2 by a 4-4 score at Braefoot Park June 5, then were downed 7-5 by the visiting Juan de Fuca team the hext night. Scoring for Peninsula in the first game were Hembruff, Munro, Sam Amos and Dennis Baggett. In game two, Hembruff and Cain Vancadsand had two each, while Bicrodden) had the other goal. The Warriors B team fared a bit better, winning one and losing one against the home-town Nanaimo team June 9. The Warriors lost the opener 6-5 in a hard-fought game with a lot of close calls, said team spokesman Ron Sera. However, the team played to its potential and crushed Nanaimo 14-5 in the second game. Among the goal scorers for Peninsula were Philip Pelkey with a hat trick, Dennis Baggett with a pair, and Trevor Scott, Garrod Mezger, Cameron McCullogh and the Vancadsand triplets. Baseball enters Playoff action is underway throughout the Sidney Little League. Games could wrap up this week with double-knockout finals in each division. TYKES Wayne Morris earned the shut- out in an 11-0 win last Wednesday by the Tyke 2 Warriors over Vic- toria/Esquimalt. Roys Marine advanced to the final by defeating Legion and Sid- ney Lions. The Lions won their first game against A.N.A.F. before losing to Roys Marine, while A.N.A.E rebounded by defeating Legion, knocking Legion out of the tourna- ment. In major girls’ action, Island Shoe is in the final, slated for tonight, against the winner of Dol- phin Sports and Safeway. Island Shoe beat both these teams in tournament play. Mean- while, Dolphin Sports and Safeway each downed Legion to eliminate Legion. In minor girls’ play, Buddies Toys squares off against Case Power in the final tonight. Case Power has to beat Buddies Toys twice to win the division. Buddies Toys defeated Snapdra- gon and Tidman Construction. Tidman beat Case Power, but Case Power bounced back with wins over Snapdragon and Tidman in later rounds to knock the teams out of contention. Results were unavailable in the minor boys’ division.
