Classic triathlon drew 170 athletes The results are in from the fourth annual Panorama Classic Triathlon, held last weekend on the Peninsula. About 170 competitors com- pleted the June 2 race, said orga- nizer Adrien Bachand. Participants swam for 500m, then biked for 30 K, and finished - with an 8-K run. The race was based out of the Panorama Leisure Centre. Local triathlete Monty Holding placed first in the men’s 45-49 class in one hour, 25 minutes, 30 seconds. Second went to Larry Hansen (1:29:59) and third to Gary McKinnon (1:41:58). Lee Pears won the women’s 45-49 class in 1:59:34. In other divisions, Mike Carro won the men’s 15-19 (1:30:30), while Marni Vistisen was the women’s winner in 2:15:56. Mike Basanta set a new course record in winning the men’s 20-24 class. His time was 1:21:06. On the women’s side in the class, Dina Skinder was first in 1:39:28. Karen Wyatt won the women’s 25-29 division (1:28:08), while Grant Reid captured the men’s in 1:22:38. In the 30-34 group, Chris Wille took home first in 1:30:43 in men’s and Debbie Snape won the women’s race in 1:35:53. Peter Culligan was the winner in the men’s 35-39, in 1:26:18, while Judith Lamontagne won the women’s with a time of 1:57:01. In men’s 40-44, David Melvin placed first (1:31:30), and in women’s 40-44, Brenda Cairns won in 1:51:51. Rene Taillerfer won the men’s 50-59 (2:09:23), Pat Baker won the women’s (2:30:16), and Bob Rhodes was first in the 60 and over category in 2:27:05.
