Huni for sheep-killers continues The Victoria SPCA is continu- ing its investigation into the killing of nine lambs by dogs near Sidney. Two dogs are suspected of attacking and mutilating the lambs on May 5 and 6 at Jack Burdge’s residence in the 1400-block McelTavish Road. SPCA executive director Lynn West said an investigator has been working on the case, but the dogs have not been located. She said the SPCA is looking for a full-grown Doberman and a grey shepherd or Husky-type dog. But a McTavish Road resident who owns a silver-black Husky- type dog says her dog is tied securely in the back yard. Peggy Langtry says “theyre barking up the wrong tree. I con- sider myself to be a responsible pet Owner.” Her 18-month old dog Pepper was seen chasing sheep in early WIN INSTANT CASH UP TO $100!! EVERY BALLOON CONTAINS A PRIZE!! February and “has been tied up ever since then,” Langtry said. She is concemed that residents of the area will think her dog is the culprit and shoot it. She empha- sized that a grey dog is sought, not a silver-black dog as previously reported. In an interview, West repeated earlier statements that the dogs probably live in residences and are not roaming wild. The dogs would likely be shot if they are caught in the act by the SPCA, but West said the chances of that are remote. The society can lay charges against the dog owner or owners and demand restitution for the dead sheep. Burdge said he saw two dogs attack his lambs on May 6. That followed a similar attack the day before.
