Patos Island race aliracis top sailors The first overnight race of the Sidney/North Saanich Yacht Club’s 1991 season will get underway, Saturday, a club spokes- man said Monday. Joanne Rhodes said the Patos Island Race will be hotly- contested and will act as a quali- fier for the famous annual Swift- sure Classic Race. Due to start at 12 noon at the foot of Beacon Avenue, the fleet of competitors for the Patos Island “race will provide an impressive sight to onlookers, she said. Two courses will take the boats south through the Gulf Islands and the American San Juan Islands. Bigger boats will follow a 66- mile long route, while the smaller boats will sail a 43-mile course. Team manager Ron Muir said Harvey's played an aggressive attacking game that keep the Pro- spect Lake players pinned in their own half during much of the action. The attacking flair of Harvey’s striker Michael Hughes paid off handsomely in the first half, with a hat trick of goals to his credit.
