COLWOOD After police threatened to break into the trick, Orr unlocked the door but continued to drink beer as he was physically removed from the truck and arrested. Defence lawyer Mayland McKimm said Or maintains the truck headlights were operating and said Orr was shocked to see armed police approach his truck — although McKimm admitted, “my client’s driving was some- what remarkable.” Shortly after 8 p.m. the same day area police were watching for Orr’s pick-up, which had been taken from the Peninsula Towing Compound in Sidney and backed through the fence, causing $1500 damage to the fence and additional damage to the rear of the truck. Central Saanich police spotted Orr southbound on Wallace Drive in the truck, the left rear of which was extensively damaged. Orr backed up towards police, then drove up a steep driveway off Wallace Drive. Police found him sitting in the truck, drinking beer. He had breathalyzer readings of 16 and .15 per cent. Orr was again charged with impaired driving July 14 for oper- ating an uninsured dirt bike while impaired on West Saanich Road near the Pauquachin Reserve. Orr passed another vehicle on the road, lost control of the bike and crashed into a ditch. He was treated at Saanich Peninsula Hospital and one sam- ple obtained, showing a blood- alcohol reading of .17 per cent, Ormheim said. McKimm said Orr had been riding dirt bikes with a friend, had driven on the gravel side of the toad and suffered a broken leg, dislocated shoulder, broken wrist and crushed foot in the accident. On Sept. 4 at 2 am. Orr was spotted by police operating an unlicensed motorcycle near Jahn Place. Failing to obey a police order to stop, Orr sped away, running two stop signs and turning on to the Pat Bay Highway, Orm- heim said. The chase continued at speeds of 60 to 70 miles per hour down the highway until Orr finally stopped. When arrested, he showed signs of impairment, Orm- heim said: McKimm said Orr had been riding a friend’s dirt bike on the Sandown Racetrack Grounds and tried to get away from police. On Jan. 24 at 1:30 a.m., an apparently intoxicated Orr entered the 7-Eleven store on Beacon with some friends, ordered cheesebur- gers, chips and soft drinks and refused to pay for the items before leaving the store, Ormheim said. _/Dr. F. On May 15 at 12:45 am., a bartender ordered Orr to leave Tiller’s Pub. An angry Orr began shouting and swearing and pushed some glasses off the bar, breaking one, Ormheim said.
