Feature PLANT Continued from Page A14 plant was who it says it is,” she said. st members Heighes and Cinar are ideally suited to the early 60s style of the musical — both are members of the popular Doc and the Doo-Wops. Heighes has also performed with the Vic- toma Operatic Society and in some Langham Court Productions. Radford was steeped in the same music for last year’s production of Grease, in which he played macho stud Danny Zuko. Shifting from stud Zuko to geek Seymour has’ been an interesting experience for the Parkland ® Secondary graduate. “The difference between the two is funny.” The highlight of the orphaned S§ymour’s life has been going from the Skid Row boys’ home to the flower shop, where he enjoys “floors to sweep and toilets to clean and every other Sunday off.” He, like the other performers, is mesmerized by the plant. “There's magic in Little Shop of Horrors. It is so strange, you Start to believe in the plant.” By the time Seymour sings his duet with the plant, Radford for- gets he is playing to a puppet and an off-stage voice. He predicts the audience will forget as’ well. “The whole thing is jumping Out at you. It becomes very, very real.” Cinar maintains the plant’s per- sonality problems all stem from a quick growth spurt that have left Audrey II with a large appetite. “He’s just a big child.” Area residents wanting to make their own decision about Audrey II are invited to a performance of Little Shop of Horrors. The two-hour musical will be performed nightly at 8 p.m. tonight until Saturday inclusive at Park- land Secondary. Admission is $7 and $8 reserved and $6 general, with $1 off for seniors and children under 14. Tickets are available from the school box office from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and at the door each night.
