Sailpast chairman Murray. Christian was impressed with how smooth this year’s sailpast went and credits experienced skippers for a good spacing between boats. “The spacing was better this year than it ever was before,” Christian said. “I think the skip- pers are getting better at running at night.” A total oif 76 boats registered but 15 dropped out for various reasons, including heavy rain late in the afternoon. Shortly after the 6 p.m. Saturday event began, the rain slowed somewhat as umbrella-clad onlookers crowded the shoreline. “AIL the boats, even the ones that didn’t get an honorable men- tion, looked great,” Christian said. “The quality of decorating on the boats, compared to other par- ades, was fantastic,” he said.
