Christmas comes to Sidney Sidney-by-the-Sea will be the scene of three great events to help ‘usher in the Christmas season on the Peninsula. Saturday, December 9 will be a fun-packed day for the entire fam- ily. Starting at 3 p.m., Santa and his helpers will parade up Bevan Avenue to First Street and retum via Beacon Avenue to Sanscha Hall. Bands, floats, clowns, and of course, Santa Claus will be on hand. During the afternoon, carolers will entertain on Beacon and at 6 p.m. a flotilla of over 75 decorated boats ablaze with thousands of lights will sail past the Sidney- Tulista waterfront, circle in Bazan Bay and return by the same route. This is the fifth annual parade of boats and it’s the largest to date, said Peninsula Celebrations Society spokesman, Syd Young. Refreshments will be available during the sail past from the Lions Lunch Box at Tulista and Kiwanis Food Van at the foot of Beacon Ave. A huge bonfire will bum mer- rily at Tulista Park and, following the sailpast, a fireworks display will erupt from a floating barge. To wind up the day, a Christmas Party will take place at Sanscha Hall commencing at 7:30 p.m. Admission is a donation of non- perishable food for the Lions/ Review Hamper Fund.
