News Gregg saw museum, centennial ignored Unsuccessful Sidney mayoral candidate Arthur Gregg is pleased with the result of the election, although he wasn’t elected. “I think we accomplished a great deal although I don’t know if my candidacy made any differ- ence,” Gregg said. “We got Nor- ma Sealey out of office. Now I hope the lady that rushed in will have the time to do the job.” Gregg received 356 votes in Saturday’s municipal election. Rather than fade into obscurity, Gregg plans to stay involved with the community and has a couple of projects he plans to focus attention on. : “J plan to keep a very keen interest on the watertront develop- ment,” Gregg said. “We're not out of the woods on that one yet.” Gregg said he is disappointed that other candidates, the Saanich Peninsula Chamber of Commerce and the Sidney Association of Merchants haven’t talked about “how to resolve the situation of the whale museum which is crying out for attention.” Gregg also saw a lackadaisical attitude by candidates during the election toward the celebration of Sidney’s centennial next year. “This 1s a great community and a community to be proud of but sitting back and doing nothing won't accomplish a thing,” Gregg said. Gregg wished all the best to the new council and said he plans to continue to promote ideas related to Sidney’s centennial. “Never say die till you’re dead, and I ain’t dead yet,” Gregg said. ~ ARTHUR GREGG =| z UNICEF offers a selection of gifts just for children. unicef «& For anew full-colour brochure, contact: ‘ UNICEF Canada 443 ML.
