hen Sue Wallace wrote a

college essay that con-

cluded with the above

paragraph, she wasn’t
paying tribute to an older sister. She
was explaining her relationship with
Shirley, her identical twin.

“It's really weird explaining how it
is to be a twin,” says Sue, “because I
don’t know anything else. But I think
it would be very strange not to have
a soulmate.”

The notion of “soulmates” may be
dismissed by many doctors and re-
searchers. Those who ridicule the
idea are probably the same experts
