Fewer ferries The summer onslaught of ferry travelers on the Saanich Peninsula eased this week as B.C. Ferries eliminated a few sailings by Switching to its fall schedule. As of Oct. 9; ferries leave Swartz Bay hourly from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. and from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Monday to Friday. Extra 10 p.m. sailings leave Swartz Bay Friday and Sunday. On Sunday, ferries leave Swartz Bay at 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. and then hourly from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. An extra sailing will be added at 6 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays, Satur- days, Sundays and on Nov. 12. Ferries leave Tsawwassen hourly from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. and at 5 p.m., 6 p.m., 7 p.m., 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. Monday to Saturday. On Sundays, ferries sail at 7 a.m., 9 a.m. and then hourly from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. Extra 8 p.m. sailings leave Tsawwassen Fridays and Sundays. Extra 4 p.m. sailings are sched- uled for Thursdays, Fridays, Satur- days, Sundays and on Nov. 12. The schedule remains in effect until November 13. Influenza shots Beat the bug this winter with free influenza vaccination from the Capital Regional District com- munity health services. The vaccination service is avail- able to seniors over 65, to nursing home and other chronic care facil- ity residents and to adults and children with chronic medical problems, such as lung or heart disease, immunodeficiencies, renal or metabolic diseases. Clinics are scheduled for the next few weeks in order to build up sufficient immunity before the virus is widespread. Adults usually require only one injection while children may require two injections a month apart. Anyone eligible for the vaccine should contact the Sidney clinic at 656-1188 to arrange an appoint- ment.
