That date marks the first meet- ing of the Peninsula Stroke Club, which will gather Mondays from 11 am. until 2 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church Hall, Cultra Avenue and East Saanich Road. Club activities will be coordin- ated by Margaret De Wit, a regis- tered social worker who has worked with handicapped people of all ages. “T am really enthusiastic about this new venture,” she said. The new club is being launched by the Victoria Stroke Club to meet the needs of Saanich Penin- Cloverdale Paint sula residents. The club will be one of 38 stroke clubs throughout the prov- ince supported by the Stroke Asso- ciation of B.C Stroke clubs are self-help groups that bring together stroke survivors and their families for mutual support and understanding. The program includes speech maintenance and exercise classes, spouse support and general inter- est activities for recreation.
