The cool sounds of hot jazz will
| waft through Sidney this weekend
~@furing the annual Sidney Dixi-
eland Jazz Festival.
Performances start Friday night
at the Sidney Travelodge, 2280
Beacon Avenue, and at Theo’s
Place Seafood House, 9819 Fifth
Street.
The jazz festival continues Sat-
and| Sunday at Theo’s Place
Sanscha Hall, the corner of
we Avenue and the Pat Bay

Featured this year are the
Stumptown Jazz Band from Port-
land, Oregon, the Goodtime Jazza-
bouts from Washington State, the
Desteration Jazz Band from Court-
ney and the Delegates of Dixieland
from Victoria.

Talented younger performances
will also be featured in the Park-
land High School Jazz Band from
Sidney and the Esquimalt High
School Jazz Band from Esquimalt.

The festival kicks off with a
Street march from 6:45 to 7:30

‘Jazzing if up in Sidney

pm. Friday at the Travelodge.

Friday night bands perform at
the Travelodge until 1:30 a.m. and
at Theo’s Place until midnight.

On Saturday jazz fans will enjoy
12 hours of music from 1 p.m.
until 1 a.m. at Sanscha Hall and at
Theo's Place.
