The sun shone and the crowds
came.

Sidney Days was a smash hit,
said Peninsula Celebrations
Society chairman Don - Trivett
Monday evening.

Record crowds turned out for
Sunday’s events in Tulista Park.
Trivett estimated 2,500 people
participated in the games, enjoyed

._ the entertainment and nibbled and
S drank at the food booths and in the

beer gardens.

Proceeds from the beer gardens
go towards event expenses, Trivett
said, and the figures look good.

“We have record sales this
year.”

The Canada Day parade was
compared favorably to Quebec’s
Jean Baptiste Parade by one visitor
while the bed races, pancake
breakfast and sporting tourna-
ments all attracted fans.

“Tt’s been a good weekend. A
lot of people really enjoyed it,”
Trivett said.

Even the few problems — a
balky public address system at the
Canada Day celebration Saturday
night, a few fizzled fireworks and
occasional drizzle during Mon-

~day’s sidewalk sale — didn’t dam-

pen the celebration.

after it was reported stolen, July 1.
