Double trouble for car owner after accident

The owner of a 1972 Datsun
Stationwagon woke up to a
wrecked car on a recent Saturday
morning.

Central Saanich police said a
17-year-old resident reported he
lost control of the Datsun when its
muffler and tailpipe fell off while
travelling on the Pat Bay Highway
near Island View Road, about 1
a.m. June 16.

The car veered off the highway
and hit a light standard, knocking
a light off the pole and causing

about $1,000 damage to the front
of the car.

The driver left the damaged car
near the intersection and went
home. But a few hours later when
a Central Saanich police constable

on patrol checked the car it was
found with six windows smashed
out of it.

Police have not laid charges and
are investigating.

len from a car parked in a drive-

way on Damelart Way in Bren-
twood sometime between June 7
and June 20, Central Saanich
police said.

Central Saanich police arrested
a 23-year-old Vancouver man for
possession of cocaine just before
he was to board a ferry at the
Swartz Bay ferry terminal, about
2:45 p.m. Friday.

Man caught with cocaine

import sports car, resulting in the

seizure of about 240
grams of cocaine and about $5,000
in cash.

Police would not comment on
the street value of the seized
narcotics and are in the process of
laying formal charges.
