With the new building the air-
port RCMP will be able to accom-
modate a new camera assisted
security system and additional per-
sonnel, Linke said.

Some finishing work remained
Friday but the Mounties expected
| all to be finished in time to take

possession yesterday.

Holding cells that are part of the
new facility will be shared by
Sidney RCMP. who have cramped

@ juariers for holding prisoners.

Transport Canada security and
pre-board screening will take over
the RCMP’s old facilities inside
the terminal building, Linke said.

Joining in the official opening
were Transport Canada officials
from Vancouver, the Commandant
of the Canadian Corps of Com-
missionaires and two local mayors
