Contrary to any rumor that you might hear, all of Sidney is not going to the dogs. Only about 50 of them will be near Tulista Park on Monday, July De They will be going down to be judged with their peers to see who has the longest ears or the shortest tail, to find out who is the oldest and who has most recently entered this world. They ll be performing their favorite tricks and showing off their costumes. Perhaps they have been practicing their speed races or their turtle paces. Proud owners have been brush- ing out long, bushy tails and assuring their pets that the judges will be very friendly and really do love animals. The Derby has 12 categories and a Judge’s Choice so all the entrants should have a fair go at a prize and a cup. Win or lose all Dog Derby 1990 dogs will receive a ribbon and dog food just for being part of the show. All the °88 and °89 sponsors have once more enthusiastically joined in to support us. The veter- inarians, pet stores, boarding ken- nels and pet food suppliers in the area are all involved in helping. So come on down to find the large signs announcing the event in the vicinity of Tulista Park. Because of the limit in time and space only the first 50 dogs will be registered. Registration will be on site, Monday July 2 from 11 a.m. to 12 noon, with the show starting promptly at 1 p.m. The fee is 50 cents per entry. Please have all dogs on a secure leash and bring along a pooper-scooper. Even if you are petless at the moment, come on down, join in the fun and cheer for your favor- ites. E Big welcome from the Sidney Days committee Don Trivett — Chairman 1 \ 2443 Beacon Ave. 656-2532 Once again it is my pleasure to welcome you all to another Sidney Days/Canada Day Celebration. HOT The inclusion of the Victoria Wheelers Cycle Club’s Criterium on \ \ Saturday evening along with the Canada Day Ceremony and Fireworks y HOT at Tulista Park should get the weekend off to a fine start. PIZZA Sunday and Monday are full of events and hopefully each of you will either participate or attend a number of them. We will miss the Sidney Jazz Society, whose participation has helped make the three previous years successful. Their festival will take place September 28 to 30, and we wish them well. I would like to thank an ever-growing volunteer committee for their efforts in putting together Sidney Days °90. With a little help from the weatherman the weekend should be fun for everyone.
