CAREFULLY AND SPEEDILY TheReview Wednesday, June 20,1990 — Al5 Tanner supporis anti-Meech stance Saanich North and the Islands provincial Liberal candidate Clive Tanner Monday expressed strong support for the anti-Meech Lake Accord stance taken by provincial Liberal Party leader Gordon Wil- son. “Wilson is the only politician in B.C with any guts,” Tanner said, “He has consistently opposed the Meech Lake Accord and the pro- cess used in attempting to force it down the throats of the people of Canada.” Tanner added that he was recently called upon by Wilson, along with other provincial Liberal candidates, to offer advice before his trip to speak to the Newfoun- dland legistlature. “We unanimously endorsed his stand and encouraged him to take the message of all British Colum- bians to Premier Clyde Wells,” Tanner said. “T’m embarrassed by the failure of our Premier to stick up for the people of British Columbia. He has flip-flopped and waffled, first for, then against Meech, then for it again. His leadership on this issue is pitiful,” he added. Tanner also slammed New Democratic Party leader Mike Harcourt for supporting the Meech Lake Accord. “NDP leader Harcourt sup- ported Meech right along with the sionately in a strong, united Can- ada. Whether we are from New- foundland, British Columbia, Quebec, Ontario or any other part of the country, we are all Canadi- ans first,” Tanner said government, in spite of opposition from some of his caucus, the aboriginal community and the majority of British Columbians,” Tanner said. “Gordon Wilson believes pas- ee LIBERAL leader Gordon Wilson with Clive Tanner recently. (Next to Safeway) : According to the Oxford dictionary, a bow is defined as an “ornamental knot with two loops, ribbon, etc. so tied.” Bows are used as adornments for hair, shoes, neck pieces and gifts, to name only a few. The list of materials for tieing bows is endless. You can use wool, coloured and metallic string, strips of fabric or plastic, lace, ribbon and even paper. There is a product called Paper Twist that comes in a- variety of colours that can be untwisted to form large decorative bows. Have a look in Tanners Hobbies & Crafts for a selection of instructions and materials for making bows. Fabric bows can be stiffened with a special fabric stiffener and then tied to adorn fancy baskets lined or decorated with fabric cutouts. This makes a fabulous gift when you create a basket personally designed for the recipient's home or office. Stiffened bows are great to use when designing a floral or Christmas wreath. A finishing spray will protect your completed project. Use a non-yellowing high gloss spray when the work is completely dry. This will protect it from chipping and enhance the colours of the fabric. : My best friend’s mother recently recited this poem about bows and I'd like to share it with you: “Pm six years old and like to wear A bow of ribbon in my hair Sometimes it’s pink and sometimes it’s blue | think it looks pretty, don’t you?” Bows are pretty accessories to enhance gift giving, craft projects and your wardrobe. Have fun letting your imagination create some unique bows. BE SURE TO TRY ONE OF OUR POPULAR INTRODUCTORY CRAFT CLASSES. JULY COURSES INCLUDE: PAPIER TOLE, FRIENDLY PLASTIC, T-SHIRT PAINTING.
