Kimberley Adams Sidney Have a great time working together Editor: Every grad class in every school is backed, helped and financed by a hard working parent group. All other grads in Victoria and on the Peninsula have worked together with their parents in organizing a super grad. They have never done it all alone or done what the heck they like as the editor suggests. This usually was done afterwards at private parties. What’s wrong with the Parkland group that they are not all working with their parent group as every other school is doing to have a truly great night? I believe only a few are complaining but seem to get the headlines. Our club was asked to help provide breakfast and I was sur- puised at the great response I got from the ladies, we could almost feed the whole school. Many other clubs and groups on the Peninsula are helping this grad group. The community is 100 per cent behind them and their parent group. Go have a great time kids with the people you have worked and shared with over the last years and never mind the gossip. J. Buchanan Saanichton Sidney school victimized Fires were lit and vehicles drove on the school grounds at Sidney Elementary School during the June 1-2 weekend, Sidney RCMP said. Police are seeking information from persons who may have seen vehicles tearing up the grass. Those with information are asked to call police or CrimeStoppers. Well I was not impressed, but that’s progress. I just planted a few more trees and in five years I'll have my seclusion again. We now have 35 new families living beside us with children running through the forest and enjoying the rural atmosphere around them, and, you know, I feel good that they too can have a piece of the Peninsula, just like me. We are talking about children, your children and mine. We are talking about adults and teenagers who are living in deplorable con- ditions because they cannot find housing or the rents are too high. “Not in my backyard” were more of the comments. FATHER’S DAY SUGGESTIONS Father's Day is quite a dilemma for some people. | have always found tt difficult to find a unique gift for Dad’s ‘personal enjoyment.’ | definitely did not want something that would increase his work (lawnmower, rake, etc.) or something that he would feel inclined to share, like chocolates (“Gee, Dad, let me help you with those caramels”). | wanted a gift just for him. Fortunately, | knew that my Dad liked Zane Grey novels. Pope Leo XIV, suffering from heart disease and terrorist assassins, must face his own mortality. Having previously fought progress, he now sees the world in a new light and wants to make great changes in-the Church. West is an accom- plished author which shows in his character development. The main plot and sub-plots flow easily without confusion to the reader. “Golden Fox” by Wilbur Smith was an extremely easy book to sink into; after the first few pages, | definitely wanted to keep reading. The | story begins in 1969 in London, introducing the reader to London society, and eventually involving Europe and Africa. The book centers around the Courtney family whom Smith has used as main characters in previous novels. The author uses a blending of factual events with a fictional story of adventure and romantic intrigue. Either book would make an excellent Father's Day gift. However, if you know of a preference toward author or topic, Tanners iS sure to carry the book you're looking for. ZA BEACON AVE: SIOREY. BLE, VOLIXG B5-2345, B.C.
