It’s full steam ahead for the Saanich Historical Artifacts Society this weekend during the annual summer fair. The grounds off the Pat Bay Highway in Central Saanich will be open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. for the fifth annual fair. “We sort of roll out the red carpet for everyone and to the best of our ability we will have every- thing running,” said society presi- dent Art Gardner. Artifacts Society volunteers will have the steam and gas engines operating and will be present to explain the equipment, Gardner said. There will be demonstrations of bookbinding throughout the week- end, hay rides pulled by horses or a tractor and farm animals on the site.
