Sidney Days shaping up

Sidney Days for 1990 is shaping
up with non-stop events from Sat-
urday, June 30 to Monday, July 2.

The Peninsula Celebration
Society's Sidney Days office
opened May 22 at 101-9790
Second Street, Sidney. Visitors are
welcome to drop by from 9'a.m. to
4 p.m. Monday to Friday or to call
656-4369 for information on the
celebration.

Topping the list of events is the
annual Sidney Days parade, slated
for 11 am. until noon July 1 in
downtown Sidney.

Already floats and bands are

Young. “We have a terrific parade
lined up.”

The parade will also give local
residents a first look at the new
Sidney float, which took first
place in the Esquimalt Buccaneer
Days parade last weekend.

Young noted the float had some

ignition problems at the start of the
parade, but a push from a group of
volunteers got the vehicle under-
way:

“It’s supposed to be a self-
propelled float,” he said. “But
with a bit of a push it went and it is

working fine now.”
