Sports Racers inducted to hall of fame An auto racing veteran and a longtime member of the Old Time Racers Association, Dick Midgley, recently had his name added to the honors role of the Victoria Auto Racing Hall of Fame, said Ross Rockett, Old Time Racers Associ- ation secretary. Midgley has been in the racing business as a mechanic and as a carbuilder for over 35 years. His cars have appeared at such major tracks as Riverside, Califor- nia and Daytona, Florida. The Parkland team was made up of Richard Littlejohns, Mike Wag- nor, Kurt Eeg and Brent Hoeppner. Panthers take soccer victory from Reynolds The Parkland Panthers girl’s soccer team trounced Reynolds High by 6-0 in a very one-sided game away Thursday. After leading 2-0 at half-time, an aggressive and very confident Parkland side continued to run rampant, scoring four more goals. Lorien Henson displayed deadly marksmanship, with five of the goals to her credit. Jenny Milligan added the sixth goal. Coach Joe Milligan said he was has had internationally-famous drivers such as Bobby Allison, Dave Marcus and Victoria’s Roy Smith drive for his team. In addition to the induction ceremony, Lorraine Haslam donated a magificent trophy to the Old Time Racers Association in memory of her late husband Jim. Rockett said the trophy will be presented to the winner of the main event at the inaugural race of the season each year.
