Annual arts and crafis show features

Painting, sculpture, jewelry,
woodcarving, weaving, pottery...a
varied list of arts and crafts
attracted over 4,000 visitors to the
Saanich Peninsula Arts and Crafts
show in Sanscha Hall over the
weekend.

The 37th annual show featured
just over 600 items on display plus
demonstrations of textile arts, fine
arts and crafts. Featured was a
display of work by Victoria sculp-
tor Ali Hosein, who specializes in
polished stone carvings.

Painted silk scarves, pottery,
jewelry, painted china, weaving,
wall paintngs and sculptures were
all purchased by visitors to the
show. Jurors choice awards were
given to 40 of the exhibits.

Door prize winners were Karl
Mitchell, who received pottery
donated by Betty Fulton, B. Brook
who received a silk scarf donated
by Hazel Harvey, Terry Lewis, who
received copper enamelling
donated by Kenshole Fahr and
Jean Miller, who received a paint-
ing donated by Dorothy Ripley.
