Jacques Cousteau was one of the pioneers whose excellent underwater camera work helped make us more familiar with life in the oceans. Recently, new technology has given us a view of previously unexplored depths. The expedition by robotic submersible to the floor of the North Atlantic to explore the Titanic captured the imagination of millions. We are enthralled by what goes on in the element that makes up three quarters of the surface of this planet. Greater Victorians will get a chance to indulge their fascination with underwater discovery by participating in the 1990 ver- sion of the Jason Project which gets under- way at the Royal British Columbia Museum Monday, April 30. It’s the second year for the program at the museum and organizers are thrilled it is once again being staged here.
