Mud bog joins
- MD tractor pull

_~ Muscular dystrophy will be the

Bric winner in a mud bog for
four-wheel drive trucks and a trac-
tor pull for souped-up garden trac-
tors, April 29 at Sandown Race-
way.

This year a 150-foot strip of
mud will be created on the track in
the event co-organized by the
North Saanich Volunteer Fire
Department.

r J As trucks. get further along the
track the mud gets deeper, pro-
gressing from one to three-feet
deep.

There are four class categories
in the mud bog competition rang-
ing from four-cylinder to eight-
cylinder modified models.

““Any style of 4 X 4 truck is
a welcome,” said Peninsula Towing
organizer Don Affleck, who will
be on hand to tow stalled trucks
out of the bog.

Entry fees for trucks are $5 and
there is no admission charged to
spectators, although North Saanich
firemen will accept donations for
muscular dystrophy on the
grounds.

A mini-tractor pull will be part
of the Sunday afternoon fun and
will feature conventional and
modified garden tractors pulling
weight transfer sleds across the
track.

Truck owners are asked to be at
the track by 10:30 a.m. for techni-
cal checks and all tractor owners
should be available at 11 a.m.

Action gets underway at 12
noon. Entry forms and contest
rules are available at various busi-
nesses, including Big O Tire.
