Learn about lures from the best

New underwater film footage
will give anglers a special look at
fish striking lures during a special
seminar organized by Central Saa-
nich Recreation.

Internationally known marine
researcher and author Charlie
White will host the seminar in the
Central Saanich Cultural Centre in
Brentwood Bay on March 28 from
6:30-11 p.m.

“This motivating presentation is
woven together with anecdotes and
advice drawn from White’s wealth

The seminar will include infor-
mation on selecting proper tackle,
finding fish, trolling techniques,
drift fishing, downrigger and bait
fishing, playing and landing fish
and the use of scent attractions.

A film, In Search of the Ulti-
mate Lure, will be shown along
with footage of fish striking jig-
ging lures.

White is a Sidney resident and
has been conducting fishing
seminars for the past 20 years.

commission, under amendments
to the bylaw recently approved by
Porth Saanich council.

Linda Michaluk opposed the
‘change, which arose from a letter
of resignation from the advisory
planning commission written by
former alderman Bill Gordon, who
suggested the amendment.

‘commissions for the past year, he
noted.

“This whole bylaw change is
the result of sour grapes of one

member of the community, I think
it’s ludicrous,” Michaluk said.

She and Bailin argued council
should choose commission mem-
bers on the basis of qualifications
and not eliminate someone
because that person already serves
on another council committee.

Ald. Maurice Chazottes said the
change would give more people a
chance to participate on council
committees.

Ald. Art McKinnon said one
person should not be able to
influence two committees.

Council agreed the person now
sitting on both committees should
finish both terms.
