FRANK FISH photos Masters windup curling season with fun finals Glen Meadows Master Curlers will wind up the season Tuesday with the club championship battle. For some members itll be the end of a fun winter of getting to know others. “We're there for recreation more than competition, although it’s nice to win,” club publicity chairman John Galipeau said. Almost 150 members curl on Glen Meadows’ six sheets in three time slots per day, two days per week. “Each rink curls for 10 draws then we redraw the rinks so we get -to know each other better,’ Gali- peau said. “There’s a cross section of the nation as members,” he said about members from Montreal, Toronto, Winnipeg and across Canada. Most are retired, all are above 55 years-old and more members are always welcome, he said. With so many rinks and so many curlers a computer is needed to determine the challenging rinks for the championship. Stats from Draw 4, which began Feb. 9, are computed using a point system of four points for a win plus one point for each winning end. The best division rink will play a wild card tink while the second and third place rinks play each other Winners advance to the champi- onship final Tuesday at 10/a.m. at Glen Meadows.
