Two of the horse are “very valuable.” “They didn’t warn anyone by e — courtesy,” Owen said. “We could _have had the horses inside.” Ian Vantreight of Vantreight Fanms said there are some people the farm calls, who have requested notification, and they will con- tinue to do it “as long as it doesn’t get to the point where we have to phone 450 people at a time.” Vantreight said it’s the same spraying program they've been doing for years and it’s perfectly safe. Approvals were received from the pesticide control branch for the helicopter service to apply the material to the field, he said. Cronin said: “I don’t think this (fungicide) has the ability to cause severe effects to people in that application.” The fungicide has'a low toxicity and can cause irritation to the eyes, throat and nose only when the applicator is in contact with its concentrated form for a long per- regional director Dick Heath said his department has no jurisdiction over fertilizer applications because no pesticides are in fertilizer.
